About The Role

Are you looking for a rewarding and meaningful role that helps keep children, families and local residents safe? As a School Crossing Patrol Officer, you will play an important part in ensuring pedestrians can cross the road safely during busy school drop-off and pick-up times.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being outdoors, communicates confidently with all road users, and wants to contribute directly to the wellbeing of their local community. You will receive full training, ongoing support, and a full uniform.

This is a term time only role, which makes it ideal if you prefer to have school holidays off.

• Supervise a designated crossing point to ensure the safe passage of children and adults on their journey to and from school.

• This post supports Nishkam School West London, and we are recruiting for two School Crossing Patrol positions one located at the main entrance of the school on Syon Lane, Osterley, Middlesex,TW7 5PN and one at the rear entrance on Wood Lane, Isleworth, TW7 5EQ. Please indicate your preferred location when applying.

• Monitor traffic and road conditions to make safe, confident decisions.

• Build positive relationships with parents, pupils, pedestrians and road users.

• Work independently while maintaining punctuality and safety -focused mindset.

• This role operates during term-time only with the following duty times (Monday to Friday) 7:45 – 8:45am and 2:35 – 3:35pm.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In

You will work independently at your designated crossing site during term time, helping children and families travel safely. Although the role is site-based and outdoors, you will be fully supported and managed by the Road Safety Team, who lead road safety initiatives across the borough. The School Crossing Patrol Team Leader will provide guidance, training and ongoing supervision to ensure you feel confident and well-supported in your role. Your work directly contributes to safer, more accessible travel for the whole community.

About You

1. Able to community clearly and appropriately with children, parents, local pedestrians and road users.

2. Confident in judging traffic conditions and making safe, timely decisions to protect pedestrians.

3. Reliable and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

4. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

5. Available to work during duty times: 7:45 – 8:45 and 2:35 – 3:35, Monday to Friday during term time.

6. Must be prepared to undertake training as and when required.
