Transactional Finance Assistant

About the role
We are looking for a motivated and organised Transactional Finance Assistant to join our Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your financial administration skills while supporting a range of important services across the Council.
In this role, you will provide administrative support across Corporate Debtors, Corporate Payments and Financial Assessments, helping to ensure invoices, payments and financial transactions are processed accurately and efficiently. Your work will contribute to supporting local businesses, social care clients and Council services, ensuring high standards of customer service and financial administration are maintained.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the processing of supplier invoices, payments and financial transactions.
- Assisting with the administration of Corporate Debtors, Corporate Payments and the Social Care Provider Portal.
- Managing and responding to enquiries received through shared mailboxes.
- Supporting the Financial Assessments service to ensure information is processed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintaining accurate records and using financial systems to support service delivery.
- Providing administrative support for finance projects, service improvements and transformation initiatives.
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, detail-oriented and keen to develop a career within finance.
You will have:
- Strong administrative skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Good communication and customer service skills, with the ability to deal professionally with a range of stakeholders.
- The ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
- An interest in finance and a willingness to develop knowledge of financial processes and regulations.
You will be a proactive team player who takes pride in delivering an efficient and professional service while supporting the Council's commitment to putting residents first.
