About the role
We are looking for a motivated Data Performance Apprentice to join our Performance & Insights Team. This entry-level role is an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills in data analysis, reporting, and automation while contributing to improving data quality across council services.
You will gain hands-on experience working with statutory and performance reports, supporting automation projects, and engaging with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements. This role is ideal for someone with an interest in data, a keen eye for detail, and a desire to grow in a collaborative, professional environment.
Key Responsibilities

Assist in preparing and maintaining statutory and performance reports

Support data validation and quality control to ensure accurate reporting

Help automate manual reporting processes to improve efficiency

Collaborate with the Performance & Insights team and wider BI team on data projects

Work with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and support delivery

Contribute to improving data quality and consistency across council services

Participate in training and development to build skills in data reporting and analysis

Support the transition of reports into automated, self-service formats
About You

GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and ICT

Interest in data analysis, reporting, and improving data quality

Willingness to learn technical skills in data handling and automation

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving

Good communication and teamwork skills

Enthusiasm for developing practical experience in local government data functions
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Meet the residency criteria of 3 years lawful residence in the UK
- Hold a visa that covers the full length of the apprenticeship, where applicable
- Not be in full-time education at the time of applying
This placement provides hands-on experience, structured training, and the opportunity to progress within the council’s Business Intelligence team, making it an ideal stepping stone for a career in data and performance analysis.
