SEN Casework Officer

Make a real difference to the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) by joining London Borough of Harrow as a SEN Casework Officer. In this rewarding role, you will manage a diverse caseload across the 0–25 age range, supporting children, young people and their families through the Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment and review process. Working closely with experienced SEN professionals, you will play a key role in coordinating statutory assessments, developing high-quality EHC Plans, attending annual reviews and championing the needs of young people. You will build strong partnerships with schools, health services, social care, voluntary sector organisations and families, providing expert guidance on the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and helping to deliver positive outcomes. About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Detailed knowledge of the EHC assessment process and annual review process, as set out in the SEND Code of Practice (SEN COP) 2015 and the Children and Families Act 2014.
- Experience of working within a casework function, managing caseloads and competing priorities.
- Ability to provide advice and guidance at meetings with parents and professionals in line with the SEND COP and relevant local guidance.
- Experience of, and ability to, work collaboratively within a team environment and with a range of professionals from other agencies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to travel to meetings independently.
- Willingness to learn new skills and attend courses as appropriate.
- A good standard of literacy and numeracy - GCSE English and Maths or equivalent (A - C).
