Overview

The London Borough of Harrow is looking for a Senior Practitioner to join its CYADS (Children & Young Adults Disabilities Services) Transition Team (18-25) for a minimum of 9-month secondment/fixed-term contract. 

 

We are seeking someone who can join the CYADS Service 0-25 with strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014 & the Children Act 1989. You will provide advice and support to Social Workers and Care Managers in the team and support practice development to ensure positive outcomes for young people preparing for adulthood. This role will involve chairing some Professional Meetings/Case Conferences as appropriate, in addition to acting as duty manager and supporting the duty system.

 

As a Senior Practitioner, you will also be responsible for recording actions and decisions in a clear and robust way on the Mosaic database, in addition to using data to plan services, undertaking some complex enquiries, liaising with both internal and external colleagues as appropriate.


About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Extensive knowledge of the legislation/policies that relate to the Adults agenda.
  • Detailed working knowledge of guidance/procedures/relative to the service area.
  • Significant experience in carrying out care management responsibilities in order to advise and guide less experienced staff.
  • Experience of working “on duty” in any social work setting.
  • Working Knowledge on Spreadsheets and Operational Management.
  • Ability to write reports to a standard sufficient for them to be presented at internal and external forums.
  • Ability to Supervise Social Workers about cases.
  • Expert in MS Office skills for adopting technology into processes.
  • Have a Social Work Qualification i.e. CQSW, DipSW or equivalent.
  • Social Worker England registered.
  • Practice Educator / Best Interest Assessor or willing to train as a Practice Educator / Best Interest Assessor.
  • Ability to travel for business purposes. 
  • Commitment to work occasional unsocial hours e.g. to carry out an evening visit or complete the oversight of an ongoing investigation.
