Executive Support Officer

The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a highly organised and proactive Executive Support professional to provide comprehensive, confidential, and adaptable support to members of the Senior Leadership Team. This pivotal role ensures the smooth functioning of the Directorate by delivering high‑quality administrative, organisational, and project-based assistance.
The post holder will manage complex diaries, coordinate multi‑agency partnership meetings, and produce accurate minutes for high‑level strategic forums. They will act as a key communication link between Strategic Directors, staff, elected members, partner organisations, and external stakeholders, ensuring information flows efficiently and professionally.
The role requires strong research and document preparation skills, including creating briefings, reports, and presentations. The post holder will maintain an active awareness of the Director’s priorities, anticipate needs, and manage incoming communications with sound judgement. They will lead on specific projects, support events and conferences, and ensure compliance with council policies, customer excellence standards, and information governance requirements.
A high level of digital proficiency is essential, including expert use of Microsoft Office, Teams, OneNote, and emerging technologies such as Copilot. The successful candidate will demonstrate resilience, initiative, and the ability to multitask within a fast-paced environment while working collaboratively across the Business Support Service to deliver a seamless and professional executive support function.
About You
The successful candidate will have :-
- Strong experience providing high‑quality executive support at a senior level
- Excellent minute‑taking skills, including for large and complex partnership meetings
- Advanced organisational abilities, with confidence managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to present information clearly and professionally
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, OneNote and modern digital tools such as Copilot
- Proven ability to work independently, use initiative and solve problems effectively
- Experience liaising with senior leaders, councillors, partner agencies and external stakeholders
- The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships across teams
- Creativity and confidence in planning, coordinating and delivering events, meetings or projects independently
