Are you an experienced housing professional who wants to help protect council homes, tackle housing misuse, and support fair access to social housing in Harlow?

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to use your initiative and investigative experience in a friendly, efficient and customer-focused environment.

Working as part of the Housing Management Team, you will proactively investigate and pursue social housing fraud, including unlawful sub-letting, ineligible succession claims, non-occupation or non-use of a council property as a principal home, fraudulent Right to Buy applications, mutual exchanges for payment, and fraudulent housing applications.

You will bring substantial housing management experience, a sound understanding of housing law and tenancy legislation, and the confidence to work with other councils, registered social landlords and the police to prevent and detect housing fraud.

You will maintain high standards of investigation by lawfully gathering evidence, drafting concise reports for your line manager, preparing case files for potential legal proceedings, visiting residential properties, taking witness statements, and attending court to give evidence when required.

You will be able to prioritise competing demands, communicate effectively with a wide range of people, handle sensitive matters confidentially, and remain calm in challenging situations.

The post holder must hold a full driving licence, have access to a car, and satisfy the required DBS check for the role.
