Working hours: 37.5 hours per week (banking 30 minutes per week towards the shut down between Christmas and New Year)

Are you a motivated and experienced housing professional looking for the opportunity to work proactively in a friendly, efficient and effective customer focused environment?

Harlow Housing Service is moving forward and as a Housing Officer – Fire Safety you will work as part of a team, directly responsible for fire safety matters across the town.

You will be directly responsible for the service delivery of areas such as:

  • Breaches of tenancy conditions relating to fire safety issues
  • Ensuring fire safety recommendations are completed within agreed timescales
  • Working closely with the Fire Service to reduce the risk of fire at council owned properties
  • Providing advice and assistance on fire safety matters
  • Ensuring service standards and high levels of customer satisfaction are achieved.

You should have:

  • A sound working knowledge and experience of housing management gained in social housing or the voluntary sector
  • A clear understanding of current housing and fire safety legislation and regulation
  • Experience of working with the Fire Service and other fire experts on fire safety matters

You will possess good communication, administration, IT and problem-solving skills, demonstrating an ability to work in a busy and demanding environment. You will have experience working within a pressurised, customer focused environment; coupled with the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically at all levels.

You will need to be available to work or attend meetings outside normal working hours. A driving licence and access to a car or other satisfactory means of transport is required for this post.
