About the role
We are seeking an experienced Targeted Support Team Manager to lead and develop a dynamic team of youth practitioners delivering targeted intervention and outreach services for young people and their families. This is a key leadership role within Early Help and Prevention, focused on ensuring high-quality case management, safeguarding practice, and responsive support for young people facing complex challenges, including serious youth violence and exploitation. You will oversee service delivery, performance, budgets, quality assurance processes and staff development, while driving innovation and continuous improvement.
Working collaboratively across children’s services, education, health, police and community organisations, you will help shape preventative services that improve outcomes for young people. You will also identify funding opportunities, develop partnerships with businesses and voluntary sector organisations and support the commissioning of interventions that address emerging community needs
About the team
Our Early Help and Prevention service is committed to supporting children, young people, and families through a strengths-based approach that promotes resilience, inclusion and positive futures. The team works closely with Family Hubs, locality services, schools, health partners, community safety teams and voluntary sector organisations to deliver holistic support tailored to local needs.
As Team Manager, you will lead a dedicated group of practitioners who are passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives. Together, you will empower young people to have a voice in shaping services, create opportunities that support personal development and education and contribute to reducing risks associated with serious youth violence, exploitation and anti-social behaviour
About you
You will be an experienced manager with a strong understanding of contextual safeguarding, serious youth violence, early help services, community safety. You will bring substantial experience of managing projects, programmes, staff and complex case management systems, alongside a proven ability to work effectively with statutory, business and voluntary sector partners.
To be successful, you will demonstrate excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills, combined with effective people management and coaching abilities. You will be highly organised, self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities while remaining calm under pressure. Educated to degree level (or able to demonstrate substantial relevant experience), you will be passionate about achieving positive outcomes for young people and supporting teams to deliver outstanding services. An Enhanced DBS check with Barred Lists will be required for this post.
