Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.

Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Strategic Lead – Resident Access & Prevention Support to lead and oversee Haringey’s Adult Social Care ‘Front Door’, ASC Early Intervention, Prevention and Communication Team.
As part of the ASC Transformation Programme, the newly designed and co-produced ’Front Door’, supported by new digital infrastructure, will improve communication to and from ASC and outcomes for our residents. This role will play a significant part in transforming how we continue to engage with residents and drive our focus on early help and intervention.
Reporting to the Director for Adult Social Care, you will provide strategic leadership across resident access, triage, safeguarding decision-making, complaints, customer experience, information and advice services and prevention pathways.
You will lead the development and continuous improvement of a modern, responsive Front Door model that delivers:
• Timely and proportionate access to support
• High-quality customer experience and communication
• Effective demand management and prevention
• Robust safeguarding practice and risk management
• Financially sustainable services
• Strong partnership working across health, housing, public health and voluntary sector organisations
• Co-produced improvements
This is a highly visible role with significant responsibility for Service improvement, operational performance, financial rigour, digital transformation and quality assurance.
About the Team
The ASC Early Intervention, Prevention and Communication Service sits at the heart of Adult Social Care and acts as the primary gateway for residents seeking advice and support. The Service manages high volumes of contacts and referrals, delivering advice, information, triage, safeguarding responses, carer support and signposting services. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of approximately 50 staff, including managers and specialist teams. The Service works closely with operational teams, health partners, housing services and community organisations to ensure residents receive joined-up support.
You will be responsible for leading the implementation of the new structure, revised ways of working, development of new work flows and building relationships internally within Adult Social Care, across the Council, with residents and other stakeholders. As part of the Adult Social Care Senior Leadership Team, you will influence strategic planning, service transformation and organisational priorities while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, learning and continuous improvement.
About You
You will be an experienced senior leader with a strong track record of delivering significant change and improvement in Adult Social Care, with particular focus on customer access services or comparable complex public service environments. We are looking for someone who can combine strategic thinking with operational expertise and who is passionate about improving outcomes for residents.
You will bring:
• Significant experience leading Adult Social Care access, triage, Front Door or high-volume customer-facing services.
• Strong knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, safeguarding responsibilities and statutory decision-making frameworks.
• Experience of Service redesign, transformation, prevention and demand management.
• A proven ability to lead through change while maintaining high performance and staff engagement.
• Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical, performance management and risk management capabilities.
• Experience of working collaboratively across organisational boundaries with partners in health, housing and the voluntary sector.
• A commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and strengths-based practice.
• Experience of and ambition around co-production with residents.
A Social Work qualification is not essential; however, you will have substantial leadership experience and a strong understanding of Adult Social Care statutory responsibilities. A management or leadership qualification would be advantageous.
