About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Revenues Officer to support the delivery of a high-performing Revenues Service. Acting as a technical specialist, you will provide expert guidance on complex Council Tax, Business Rates and BID Levy matters, support service improvements, resolve complaints and member enquiries, and assist with performance monitoring and reporting. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate billing, recovery and enforcement activities while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and best practice.
About the team
You will join a dedicated and customer-focused Revenues Service within the Environment and Resident Experience Directorate. Working closely with Revenues Team Managers and colleagues across the wider service, you will help deliver effective collection and enforcement functions that support the council’s financial objectives. The team works collaboratively with internal services and external partners, including the Valuation Office Agency, Department for Work and Pensions, enforcement agents and support organisations, to provide an efficient and responsive service for residents and businesses.
About you
We are seeking a knowledgeable Revenues professional with practical experience of working within a local government Revenues environment, particularly in Council Tax or Business Rates. You will have a strong understanding of relevant legislation, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to interpret and apply complex regulations confidently. You will be highly organised, customer-focused and analytical, with experience handling confidential information, identifying discrepancies, solving problems and working accurately in a high-volume, pressurised environment. Above all, you will be able to work independently, support colleagues with technical expertise, and deliver excellent outcomes for residents and stakeholders
