About Haringey

Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.

Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.

About the role

As a Housing Officer, you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, customer-focused housing management service to residents across a dedicated patch of approximately 550 properties. Acting as the primary point of contact for tenants, you will manage a wide range of tenancy-related matters, from routine enquiries and changes to household circumstances through to more complex issues such as anti-social behaviour, tenancy breaches, and safeguarding concerns.

A key part of the role is maintaining a strong presence within our communities. You will regularly visit estates, build positive relationships with residents, and work proactively to ensure neighbourhoods remain safe, sustainable, and welcoming places to live. Working collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, and partner agencies, you will coordinate effective solutions where issues span multiple services.

You will take ownership of tenancy management performance within your patch, ensuring cases are managed efficiently, residents receive excellent service, and key performance targets are achieved. Through a proactive, visible and resident-focused approach, you will play a vital role in helping us deliver an outstanding housing management service.

About the team

The Tenancy Management Team is based at Alexandra House and is made up of dedicated Housing Officers, apprentices, and support staff who are committed to delivering excellent services to residents. Working together in a supportive and collaborative environment, the team plays a key role in helping residents sustain their tenancies, resolve issues, and create thriving communities.

Passionate about making a difference, the team is focused on providing a responsive, resident-centred service and continually improving outcomes for the communities we serve.

About you

You will be a proactive and resident-focused individual with a passion for delivering excellent customer service and making a positive difference in local communities. With strong communication and interpersonal skills, you will be confident engaging with residents, colleagues, and partner organisations, building positive relationships and resolving issues effectively.

You will have experience working with the public, ideally within a customer service, housing, or service delivery environment, and an understanding of the challenges faced by diverse communities. Organised and self-motivated, you will be able to manage a varied workload, prioritise competing demands, and use your initiative to achieve positive outcomes.

A good standard of literacy, numeracy, and IT skills is essential, along with the ability to produce clear written correspondence and maintain accurate records. Knowledge of social housing, housing management, and safeguarding principles would be advantageous. Above all, you will share our commitment to putting residents first and delivering a high-quality, responsive housing service.

Working for Haringey

At Haringey Council we are committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included, and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce so welcome applications from all ethnicities and communities so that we continue to make a difference to our residents and community.  Our benefits package includes a leave entitlement of 31 days + bank holidays, potential hybrid working opportunities, health and wellbeing support, a generous local government pension scheme and a range of discount schemes across leisure and culture that provide both financial and money-saving discounts.
