A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.

These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About the role
As an Education Welfare Service Support Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of the Education Welfare Service. Working closely with the Principal Education Welfare Officer, you will provide high quality administrative and operational support, helping to monitor school attendance, manage attendance related data, process referrals and Fixed Penalty Notices and support statutory reporting requirements. You will also be responsible for a range of financial administration duties, including raising purchase orders, processing invoices, monitoring payments and maintaining accurate records using SAP and other council systems
About the team
The Education Welfare Service is committed to improving outcomes for children and young people by promoting good school attendance and supporting families, schools, and partner agencies. You will join a collaborative and dedicated team that works closely with schools, parents, social care, health professionals, early help services and other stakeholders to ensure children receive the support they need to succeed. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that has a direct impact on children, families, and the wider community.
About you
We are looking for a highly organised and proactive individual with experience in administrative support and customer-focused service delivery. You will have GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics, excellent IT skills and strong written and verbal communication abilities. Experience working with children, families, schools, or within an education, welfare, or support service is essential, along with experience handling enquiries from the public and external partners. You will be able to prioritise competing demands, maintain accurate records and data systems, handle sensitive information with confidentiality and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and an understanding of safeguarding and child welfare principles are also essential for success in this role.
