About Haringey

Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.

Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.

About the role

Are you a qualified Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) looking to make a real difference in people’s lives? Join Haringey’s Adult Social Care service, where you will undertake Mental Health Act assessments, make independent professional decisions, and ensure individuals receive the right support while protecting their rights and dignity. Working across a variety of settings including hospitals, the community, courts and police stations, you will play a pivotal role in supporting adults experiencing mental health crises and promoting the least restrictive interventions wherever possible.

About the team

You’ll be joining a highly skilled and collaborative Adult Social Care team committed to delivering outstanding services to residents. Working alongside social workers, healthcare professionals, the police, courts and other partner agencies, you’ll contribute to a multidisciplinary approach that places the individual at the heart of decision-making. The team is passionate about professional development, continuous improvement and delivering high-quality, legally compliant mental health services across a diverse community.

About you

We’re looking for a qualified Approved Mental Health Professional with a Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration. You will have a strong understanding of the Mental Health Act, social care legislation and strengths-based practice, alongside the ability to undertake high-quality assessments and make sound professional judgements in complex situations. You’ll be a confident communicator with excellent report-writing skills, capable of building relationships with service users, families and partner agencies. Most importantly, you’ll be committed to safeguarding vulnerable adults, promoting independence and delivering person-centred support within a culturally diverse community.
