About the role
Are you an experienced social work leader with a passion for achieving excellent outcomes for children in care? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where your leadership truly makes a difference? We are seeking a committed and dynamic Team Manager to lead our Children Looked After Team.
As Team Manager, you will provide strong, trauma informed, reflective leadership to a skilled team of social workers supporting children who are looked after and those subject to court proceedings. You will oversee high quality assessments, care planning, and court work that ensures children’s safety, stability, and positive long term outcomes.
You will work closely with partners across health, education, legal services, fostering, and wider safeguarding teams to ensure children receive consistent, relationship based support throughout their journey.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, supervise, and develop a team of social workers delivering service for the children in the care of the local authority.
Ensure the quality and timeliness of assessments, care plans, court reports, and permanency planning.
Provide professional oversight and decision-making on complex cases and care pathways.
Drive excellent practice in line with statutory requirements, national standards, and local procedures.
Promote a culture of high aspiration, restorative practice, and child centred work.
Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to secure positive outcomes for children.
Monitor performance, manage risk, and contribute to service development and improvement.
About You
We are looking for an inspiring leader who:
Is a qualified social worker with Social Work England registration.
Has substantial post qualifying experience in children’s social care, particularly LAC and court work.
Brings strong practice knowledge alongside excellent organisational and decision making skills.
Models reflective, strengths based leadership and supports staff wellbeing and professional development.
Is committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for children and young people.

Role Specific Qualifications:
A recognised Social Worker qualification with management experience including statutory work with children and their families
Social Work England Registration.
