Road Traffic Enforcement Team Leader

London Borough of Hackney

Hackney, London£46,854 to £47,925 - PO2Closes: 11/05/2026

This post is located at 136-142 Lower Clapton Road, and various locations in the Borough

Hackney is one of the most dynamic and progressive local authorities in the UK. We are a resilient, vibrant, and creative borough in the heart of London, with strong, diverse communities and a powerful set of shared values.

Hackney Parking Services are often leading the way in the parking industry with the main focus on best practices and performance. Hackney Council has managed to be the number one borough in Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) appeals for two years running. Hackney was one of the first Councils in the country to implement School Streets and Ultra Low Emission Zones – all of which are enforced by the parking enforcement team.

Hackney Council is looking for an exceptional Road & Traffic Enforcement Team Leader to join our Parking Enforcement Team within our Parking Service. As a Road & Traffic Enforcement Team Leader, you will provide a visible uniformed presence across the borough and also be deployed on a district basis to understand and address localised parking problems, challenging and changing driver’s behaviours and to contribute to the achievement of the Mayor’s priorities, Council’s corporate objectives and Parking Enforcement Plan.

You will manage your team as part of a broader and more inclusive service, in the delivery of joined-up, accountable and timely management of parking enforcement action in line with legislation and Council Policies and Procedures which may include but not be limited to the issuing of Penalty Charge Notices, Warning Notices and Fixed Penalty Notices (for engine idling).

The post holder will undertake a wide range of parking enforcement duties in relation to parking enforcement and wider general public realm reporting of problems, issues and concerns as required.

In this challenging and rewarding role, you will have the necessary communication and networking skills to work directly with residents and key partnering services. Your “can do” ethos, unparalleled organisational skills and problem solving abilities will empower you to manage a varied caseload, and collaborate with others to address support needs and achieve positive outcomes. You will have demonstrable experience of working in an agile context and the ability to work routinely from different locations across Hackney to best meet the needs of the communities that we serve.

You must be able to demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, either through direct management experience or through the supervision of staff as you will be responsible for the performance management of your team within the allocated district. You must also be able to maintain accurate service-specific records to ensure compliance with our reporting obligations. You will need a proactive approach, be driven and have excellent communication skills.

As a Council, our most outstanding asset is our staff, who are highly dedicated to serving our residents and committed to our goals as an organisation.
