Woking (Hybrid), Surrey Are you an experienced planning professional with a passion for shaping places and delivering infrastructure that supports thriving communities? We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Principal Planning Infrastructure Officer to join out Planning Policy team and play a lead role in delivering Woking’s future growth agenda. As front runners in the new plan-making system, the Council is preparing for significant change through a new local plan with infrastructure planning at the heart of delivering sustainable communities. The Council’s approach places strong emphasis on ensuring social, physical and green infrastructure supports growth across the borough. As Principal Planning Infrastructure Officer, you will lead on the strategic planning and coordination of infrastructure required to support development across the borough. You will manage and develop the Infrastructure Delivery Plan (IDP), working with internal and external stakeholders and service providers to ensure infrastructure needs are identified and delivered in a coordinated way. You will build productive relationships with infrastructure providers and strategic partners, provide expert advice on planning obligations, developer contributions and infrastructure funding mechanisms. You will prepare reports, evidence and briefings for Members and senior officers, lead on preparing a new CIL charging schedule as well as general manage and oversight of CIL casework, including managing the Planning Benefits Officer. You will be an experienced planner with strong technical knowledge and a collaborative approach. You will have a degree in Town Planning or a related discipline and membership of, or eligibility for membership of, the Royal Town Planning Institute. Significant experience in infrastructure planning and planning policy is essential. You should have excellent project management and partnership working skills and strong written and presentation abilities.
