We are seeking a motivated, flexible, and pro-active person to join our Housing Team. The role will involve all aspects of rent collection and arrears management in the housing team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about service improvement, transformation and ideally have experience in developing and implementing new policies and procedures. You will lead and motivate a team of income officers ensuring procedures are efficiently delivered to maximize income collection. You will do this in a customer focused way ensuring communication with tenants, leaseholders, licensees, shared owners and garage renters through the rent collection and arrears management process. You will be responsible for the line management of the income team and work with the temporary accommodation officer to ensure income maximization across the housing portfolio. We would like to embed a rent first culture at Woking Borough Council, and you will ensure the team is proactive with early intervention in arrears cases and signposting to support agencies we work with in the borough. You will ensure arrears actions are carried out in a timely, appropriate, and proportionate manner and communication with those in arrears is conducted in line with procedures and timescales within them. You will be expected to oversee effective use of the housing management database, case files and the implementation and use of Mobysoft Rentsense into the day-to-day workings of the team and case management. Where necessary you will identify and pursue legal action serving the relevant legal notice, attending court and acting as a witness where appropriate. Ideally the successful candidate will have experience of working and managing a team responsible for rent collection and arrears management in the social housing sector with a good knowledge of up-to-date relevant legislation.
