The role
As a Temporary Accommodation Move‑On Officer, you will support households living in temporary accommodation to secure suitable, long‑term housing. You will work directly with clients to build independence, maximise income, prevent repeat homelessness, and help them move on into stable accommodation across the private rented sector or social housing routes. Key responsibilities
Support households in temporary accommodation to find and move into long‑term, suitable and affordable housing.
Provide practical, flexible support to help clients sustain their accommodation and reduce the risk of homelessness recurring.
Help clients access welfare benefits, maximise income, and engage with employment or training opportunities.
Carry out suitability and affordability assessments, inspect potential properties, and ensure compliance with HHSRS standards.
Assist clients with Universal Credit housing element applications and process deposits or rent in advance under the rent deposit scheme.
Offer advice on all housing options available, including the Housing Register and private rented sector opportunities.
Promote landlord incentive schemes and develop positive relationships with landlords to expand move‑on options.
Maintain accurate case records, issue formal decision letters, and ensure all safeguarding responsibilities are met.
Full details of duties can be found in the job description.
About you

You should have experience providing housing advice or working in a related field such as social work, welfare benefits or debt advice, and be confident applying housing legislation, tenancy law and the Housing Health and Safety Rating System.
Experience in supporting vulnerable households, writing formal decision letters, and making decisions under Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996 is highly beneficial. A full driving licence is required for property visits.
