The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is eager to start a career in Social Housing.
As a Neighbourhood Housing Officer, you will work within a team and be supported to learn key roles in social housing which includes, managing tenancies, helping to create safe and sustainable neighbourhoods. You will work closely with tenants, colleagues, and partner agencies to resolve issues, provide advice, and ensure that residents are able to maintain their homes safely.

As this role requires travel across the borough, a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential, and a mileage allowance will be provided in line with council policy.
Willingness to undertake relevant training and professional development within housing would be required.
This role is primarily community-based, with time spent in the office, visiting residents and neighbourhoods.
Following completion of initial training and once competence in the role has been demonstrated, there will be the opportunity for hybrid working of up to 2 days per week, subject to service needs.
This is a full-time, permanent role (37 hours per week) Working hours are:
Monday and Friday: 08:45 to 17:00
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 08:45 to 17:15
(daily working hours include scheduled breaks)

Essential qualifications/experience

Able to communicate confidently and effectively both verbally and in writing
Customer sevice skills with experience of engaging with people in a professional and positive manner.
Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and work to deadlines
Ability to use computer systems including word processing, spreadsheets and other IT systems
Able to compile reports and deal with written correspondence, knowledge of Housing Law and Practice, working knowledge of ASB tools and powers and other relevant legislation.
Teamworking – ability to collaborate with colleagues while also working independently when required.
Confident IT skills such as basic Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel or similar.
Attention to detail – able to follow policies & procedures, maintain accurate records and handle information carefully.
Resilience and adaptability – able to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations.
Other desireable but not essential:
Knowledge or interest in social housing, local government, or community services
Experience supporting vulnerable individuals or working in a support-based environment
