What you need to know

Contract type: Staff Bank (work on an as-needed basis, ideal if you need flexibility)

Pay details: The listed salary is for a full-time role. If you’re applying for a part-time or bank job, we will calculate your pay on a pro-rata basis, hourly rate is £13.52

Location: Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, City Halls & Old Fruitmarket, Tramway, Kelvingrove Bandstand

What you’ll do

As a Customer Service Assistant you’ll be a part of an established team, reporting to the Assistant Venue Managers. You’ll play an essential role in delivering a range of events across Glasgow Life’s flagship venues. Your work will make a visible and lasting difference.

As a Customer Service Assistant, you will:

  • Customer service delivery — Provide accurate information, assistance, and the highest standard of customer care to all visitors across Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, City Halls & The Old Fruitmarket, Tramway, The Kelvingrove Bandstand, and any other Glasgow Life event venues.
  • Operational duties — Carry out a range of front‑of‑house responsibilities including cloakroom operation, ticket scanning, ushering, gallery invigilation, providing event and venue information, distributing and removing promotional materials, and ensuring public areas are free of litter before and after events.
  • Payment handling — Process cash and card transactions when working in the cloakroom.
  • Event and venue knowledge — Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of forthcoming events, venue layouts, and standard operating procedures to ensure accurate and confident guidance for customers.
  • Health and safety responsibilities — Take responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of the public within the venue, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Visitor experience — Create a welcoming environment for all visitors, uphold high standards of customer service, and respond effectively to enquiries and complaints.
  • Accessibility support — Contribute to an inclusive, accessible environment by assisting visitors with additional access requirements.
  • First Aid duties — When trained and scheduled, perform First Aid duties alongside regular Customer Service Assistant responsibilities.
