The Glasgow City Health & Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP) is on a journey to radically change the way in which Social Work delivers support and services.
An exciting opportunity has arised to join us as a Social Worker within Justice Services. This is a crucial role in safeguarding communities and reducing offending within the community. Working with often very vulnerable individuals with complex needs, we require to work effectively across GCHSCP in order to secure better and positive outcomes for individuals subject to statutory orders.
The Social Worker role in Justice Services involves delivering a statutory service in relation to throughcare licenses, supervised release orders, community payback and unpaid work orders. Critical to this function is ensuring comprehensive risk management planning and reviewing of cases to mitigate public protection risks and reduce reoffending rates. Justice staff also have a statutory function in relation to the provision of Court reports with demand increasingly high and with short timescales for these to be provided. A central function of this role is also to meet key performance indicators relating to service provision which are reported onto the Integration Joint Board (IJB) and Scottish Government on a quarterly basis.
We work with a broad range of partners within Justice Services including Police Scotland, Court, Health and voluntary services with the aim being to promote and engage clients in effective offence focused work, preventative and recovery supports and early interventions to reduce the risk of re-offending.
We are looking for qualified Social Workers who are committed to making a real difference to the lives of people. Seeking energetic, talented, resilient and committed Social Workers to secure outcomes. You will have sound knowledge of assessment and care management; have practiced extensively under the relevant legislation; and work in a person centred manner which will be fully embedded in your practice. You will be confident in managing risk and looking for innovative ways to promote independence and link people into the local community.
We have a large range of services that require to work effectively together, we work in full partnership with our health colleagues and a broad range of partners and we have a key priority in relation to shifting the balance of care across both service areas and promoting more effective early intervention and preventative supports.
Applicants must either possess a Degree / Diploma in Social Work (or Social Work equivalent). Please refer to the Person Specification for full details of the required qualifications, skills, knowledge and competencies that are required for the above role.
Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above role will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.
Registration to the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is an essential requirement for this role. You must either be already registered or have applied within 3 months and be registered within 6 months from your start date. Please note as part of the local government pay deal, local authority staff are currently not required to pay SSSC fees.
These roles are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
