Essex County Council are pleased to be supporting Harlow District Council to recruit an Interim Gas Manageron a 12-month basis. Please note that this post requires the successful individual to be based on site for 3 days per week.
Harlow is a district of contrasts and an ideal location to both live and work. The town itself is thriving, with excellent shopping and leisure facilities for all ages. We have good road links to the M11 and M25 and excellent rail connections to London and Stansted Airport, just 35 minutes and 20 minutes away from Harlow respectively.
Harlow is an authority with big ambitions. Our Housing capital programme for investment work to occupied homes is in the region of £150m over the next 2 years. We are building a team of high calibre professionals and welcome applications from those with drive and experience who can help us meet the challenge.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Harlow District Council's Housing Operations division seeks an experienced Interim Gas Manager to lead gas compliance, contract performance and resident safety across its housing portfolio, ensuring full statutory compliance and high-quality service delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all gas servicing, maintenance and compliance across Council housing stock and non-housing portfolio
- Oversee contracts in line with Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 and HSE ACoPs
- Achieve 100% annual gas safety check completion; maintain landlord gas safety records per Landlord and Tenant Act 1985
- Monitor contractor KPIs/SLAs; manage procurement under Public Contracts Regulations 2015
- Ensure compliance with Building Safety Act 2022 and Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
- Report performance to senior leadership and manage emergency gas works protocols
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Gas Safe Registration (mandatory)
- Strong demonstrable contract management experience including KPI oversight and contractor performance management
- Proven track record in gas compliance within social housing or local authority
- Working knowledge of gas safety legislation and HSE guidance
DESIRABLE
- IOSH/NEBOSH;
- Asset management system knowledge
