About the Role

We’re looking for a motivated and analytical Policy & Performance Officer to help shape the future of Housing & Property Services at Epping Forest District Council.

In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring our services are guided by robust data, strong performance insight, and clear, evidence based policies.

You’ll support the development of housing strategy and policy, lead on statutory and regulatory data submissions, coordinate responses to Government consultations, and help ensure that Housing & Property Services are fully compliant with legislation and the regulatory framework.

Your work will directly influence decision making and service improvement across the Housing & Property Service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely statutory data submissions.
  • Analyse data, identify trends, and develop insights that inform strategic planning and continuous improvement.
  • Provide briefings to senior management and ensure colleagues are kept informed of sector developments.
  • Lead on coordinating responses to Government and regulatory consultations.
  • Produce annual reports on performance, satisfaction, and operational activity.
  • Coordinate reviews of housing strategies and policies.

About You

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • A background in policy, strategy, data, or performance management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and present it clearly.
  • Experience of effective collaborative working with colleagues.
  • Excellent level of IT skills, including MS Office, particularly Excel and some knowledge of PowerBI.
  • Knowledge of Social Housing Regulatory requirements and other relevant housing law. 
  • A good understanding of the current challenges facing local government and housing services.

Working Arrangements

This role is offered on a hybrid basis, with an expectation of at least 1 day per week in the office.
