Position: Grants Officer
Team: Private Sector Grants (Regulatory Services)
2 Year Fixed Term Contract – Full time
Salary Grade: F (£40,217)
We are looking to recruit a Grants Officer to assist us in the delivery of Disabled Facilities Grants providing adaptations to the homes of eligible residents in accordance with the Council’s Housing Assistance Policy.
The successful candidate will have an important and responsible role within this progressive team and we are looking for a highly motivated and driven person to fill this interesting and challenging position
A relevant professional degree/qualification or demonstrable equivalent work experience and excellent transferable skills are essential prerequisites for this post.
Ideally, applicants must be able to demonstrate practical experience of the grants process (though training can be provided) from carrying out property inspections, drawing digital plans using MS Visio and preparing schedules of works, completing application forms, submitting Building Regulation and Planning Applications etc. and progressing cases from inception to completion in accordance with policy guidelines.
Excellent written, numeracy, organisational and time management skills are essential to the role along with the ability to prioritise your own workload.
Strong inter-personal and communication skills are also essential, and applicants must be able to consult, negotiate persuade and influence others on a variety of levels on a regular basis. Good written and numeracy skills and the ability to use technology efficiently and effectively is also required.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are sensitive, patient and emphatic towards our customers and must have proven experience of communicating with the public, particularly elderly and/or vulnerable people in person, on the telephone and in writing.

This role is only suitable to applicants who hold a full driving licence and have access to their own vehicle during normal working hours.
