Crisis Support and Resilience Team - part of the Financial Assessment Service

We are delighted to invite applications for an Assessment Assistant (SC5) to join our newly established Crisis Support and Resilience Team – a high‑profile, fast‑developing service at the heart of the Council’s work to support residents through financial hardship and build long‑term resilience.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build skills, gain experience in financial assessments, and develop a clear pathway into more complex decision‑making roles.

About the role

As an Assessment Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of our crisis and hardship schemes, including the Crisis and Resilience Fund, Housing Payments and Council Tax Support Hardship Payments. You will provide high‑quality administrative and assessment support, working closely with Crisis Support and Resilience Officers to ensure applications are progressed accurately, efficiently and compassionately.

Your work will directly support residents at difficult points in their lives, helping ensure timely access to financial help and wider support.

The post offers a clear development pathway, with scope over time to take on more complex work and progress to a higher‑graded role.
