We welcome diversity and multi-lingual speakers who would strengthen our service offer to our local communities

Enfield is increasingly one of the most diverse areas of London, with all the benefits this brings us across our communities, culture, heritage and local economy. We also have incredibly diverse landscapes – from the urban centres of Edmonton, Southgate, Palmers Green and Enfield Town, to our rural areas and farmland in the north of the borough. Our Council Plan sets out how we are investing in Enfield to deliver positive outcomes for our communities (2023-26).

Enfield Council is seeking to fill maingrade EP posts to join our friendly, dynamic and well-regarded Educational Psychology Service. As a member of our team, you’ll be joining an EPS that is dedicated to providing a high-quality service for Enfield’s children, young people and their families.

We have a strong focus on emotional health and wellbeing, developing trauma informed and culturally responsive practice. The EPS takes a lead across several areas across the partnership such as trauma informed practice, barriers to attending school, autism and neurodiversity. Have a look at our website for further information.

We have a history of multi-agency working, and all of our EPs have opportunities to work within existing and/or new projects and services, and develop specialist interests. Current commissioned work includes the Virtual School for LAC; Youth Justice Service; Primary Behaviour Support Service (SWERRL); School Admissions Service; Mental Health Support Teams; CAMHS neurodevelopmental pathway; Enfield Advisory Service for Autism (EASA); ELSA; and MeLSA.

You will be joining a skilled and supportive team that is well-respected by schools and services across Enfield. All EPs have a patch of schools where you can develop strong relationships and partnership working.

You will benefit from a supportive senior leadership team, committed to supporting team belonging and wellbeing. We have a service-wide CPD programme providing ongoing training where we can learn, grow and reflect together. Peer and group supervision sessions take place alongside regular individual supervision.

We have strong links with the doctoral training courses and are committed to supporting our Trainee Educational Psychologists on placement, and through roles as university tutors.

We are supportive by a friendly, efficient and dedicated business support team and are based in a well-appointed central office base in the Civic Centre in Enfield Town. Free car parking provides easy access to the team base. The EPS is co-located with other teams in the People department, including SEN, School and Early Years Improvement, School Admissions and Public Health, enhancing opportunities to work together.

Professional qualification in Educational Psychology and registration with the HCPC as a practitioner psychologist is required. We warmly welcome applications from Trainee EPs who are due to qualify by September 2026 or 2027 and will have HCPC registration confirmed following the completion of a recognised training course.

The role involves visiting settings in Enfield and outside the borough.

Here is what it’s like to work in Enfield EPS, from those who have recently joined us:

I have worked within the Enfield EPS for the past 8 years and have thoroughly enjoyed the diversity within the borough. The team and leadership have always been supportive and the work has been broad and interesting. I feel valued within the service and the service continuously strives to focus on meaningful developments including trauma informed practice, dynamic assessment and using the Autism Education Trust Framework. I also supervise trainee EPs during their placement in Enfield and they always comment on the interesting work Enfield offers as well as their enjoyment of working in a diverse range of educational settings. Stephanie Barclay (EP)

Having relocated from South Africa for this role, I have greatly appreciated the support of colleagues who are genuinely invested in my growth and development. Since starting in September 2023, I have been given numerous opportunities to learn, grow, and excel — first as a Maingrade Educational Psychologist and now as an Area Senior EP. It has been incredibly motivating to feel that my potential and contributions are recognised and valued, inspiring me to offer the same encouragement and support to my team and colleagues. The work we do in Enfield is varied, meaningful, and engaging, providing continuous opportunities to broaden one’s expertise, take on new challenges, and make a real difference in the lives of those that we serve. Arno Basson (Area Senior EP)
