Travel Plan Monitoring Officer (Two-Year Fixed-Term Contract)

Ealing Council has published an ambitious Climate and Ecological Emergency Strategy, and we are developing a new Transport Strategy. Supporting active and sustainable travel is a key goal, with our work focusing on cycling, walking, public transport and electric vehicles.

To support these goals, we are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to help ensure that new developments support our transport objectives and that developers share our vision of making the borough greener, safer and healthier for residents and visitors. As part of Ealing's award-winning Transport Planning team, you will monitor Travel Plans for new developments and work with developers on active and sustainable transport initiatives, enabling people to access sites by walking, wheeling, cycling and public transport.

You will work closely with Transport Planners, Planners and our Urban Design and Regeneration teams to promote active and sustainable travel in all new developments. Through monitoring Travel Plans, you will help ensure that sustainable transport measures are delivered in line with our objectives.

We are looking for someone who is organised, self-motivated and enthusiastic about active and sustainable travel. Some knowledge and experience of the planning system and Travel Plans would be beneficial. You will have a keen interest in sustainable transport, climate action and/or creating healthier places. You will also have either a relevant degree (for example, environmental studies or transport planning) or equivalent experience.

It is an exciting time to join Ealing Council. We are the third-largest London borough by population, with many diverse communities and seven key town centres. We have ambitious plans to tackle the climate crisis, create good jobs and address inequality. We are involved in major transport projects such as High Speed 2, Heathrow Airport surface access, and large-scale new developments in Old Oak Common and Southall. The Transport Planning team is delivering key projects including EV charging infrastructure, bike hangars, School Streets, micromobility schemes, cargo bike initiatives and strategic transport improvements, and we would love you to join us.

We offer training opportunities and flexible working arrangements.

This role is subject to an Enhanced Vetting Check.

You must have the right to work in the UK. Evidence of your right to work will be requested at the interview stage.

It is an exciting time to join us at Ealing Council. If you would like to make a positive difference to our residents and borough, we look forward to hearing from you.

Ealing Council is committed to creating good jobs and delivering on its Connected Communities agenda. We are committed to equality of opportunity and to being fair and inclusive.

We therefore welcome applications from all residents of the borough. We particularly welcome applications from candidates who are entering the employment market in the early stages of their careers, as well as mid-career professionals who are currently underrepresented in Ealing's workforce.

Please note that all applications will be assessed on merit.

Closing date for applications: 17 August 2026.
