This is a 2 year, fixed-term position.

You will be expected to be part of a team providing and managing delivery of a comprehensive housing management service for Dover District Council tenants.  

You play a key role in the voids process by ensuring the timely letting of void properties, and supporting tenants in advance of and throughout the tenancy sign up process, at the end of their tenancies, and in relation to the transfer and mutual exchange process. 

You will manage a patch of properties, and you should have working knowledge of social housing, anti-social behaviour related legislation and best practice. 

Who We Are Looking For 

  • Experience of housing management or allocations within a local authority or similar environment. 
  • Good understanding of housing and tenancy law  
  • Experience within a housing related or similar organisation 
  • Experience of planning and implementing change  
  • Experience of working with a range of partners, including communities, to develop new and different ways of working.

  • GCSE English and Maths Grade C or above (Grades 4-9 or equivalent). Degrees are welcome. 
  • Housing Qualification from the Chartered Institute of Housing, Level 3 (Desirable) 
  • Excellent IT skills including word, outlook, excel, teams. 
  • Good negotiation skills  
  • The ability to build effective relationships and partnerships with stakeholders  
  • An ability to communicate effectively with residents, senior officers and external organisations  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to persuade and influence others   
  • Ability to work on own initiative  
  • Ability to work under pressure and to priories work to meet tight deadlines  
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage own workload. 
  • Ability to understand the needs and perceptions of customers and to handle situations sensitively   
  • Ability to adopt a firm, empathic approach in discussions and negotiations  

Due to the nature of the role you will have the ability to work flexibly, and will require a current full driving license effective in the UK and use of a motor vehicle for business use. 

Due to the nature of this role the successful applicant will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check as part of their pre-employment clearances.   

You will be expected to report any concerns relating to the safeguarding of children, young people or vulnerable adults in accordance with agreed procedures.
