The Role & Responsibilities
The Project Manager will undertake and participate in the delivery of current and future corporate projects and opportunities in the Dover District. Delivering economic, physical, social and cultural growth for the benefit of residents, businesses and visitors.
Supporting the Major Projects and Programme Manager the Project Manager will prepare formal project documentation, monitoring reports to funders, financial claims, delivery contracts, cabinet reports and contractor procurement documentation.
The Project Manager will develop positive working relationships with industry partners and stakeholders in Dover District and establish themselves as a project point of contact. The role requires participation in stakeholder engagement and community consultation (this is sometimes scheduled for evenings and weekends) for the delivery of existing projects and to evidence preparation of new bids.
The applicant should be able to provide examples of working knowledge for project management systems, risk assessments and public liability considerations. Experience of local government decision making processes, budget management, procurement in public sector and effective negotiation skills are important for the role.
Knowledge of Dover District and the local area is preferred.
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
- Be proactive, with excellent communication skills and prior project management experience
- Have experience working in both an office environment and alternative locations (such as building sites).
- Bring knowledge and experience in construction or regeneration projects
- Demonstrate strong concentration and attention to detail, as the role involves physical, environment, and mental demands, including extensive use of visual display units (VDUs).
- Possess knowledge of a relevant subject area, such as Capital Programme, health and safety, contracts, procurement and bid/ grant processes.
- Have at least three or more years of related project management experience.(Essential)
- Understand UK local government, governance process, and current affairs.
- Hold a degree-level qualification (or equivalent) and GCSE (Grade A-C/ 4-9) in English and Maths (or equivalent).

Due to the nature of the roll, you will have the ability to work flexibly. There is a requirement to travel to regional and district meetings. A full valid UK driving license and use of a motor vehicle for business use is required.
Interviews to be held on 19 & 21 May 2026.
You will be required to provide a 10-minute presentation about your project management experience. The quality of your application will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
