The Role & Responsibilities:  

Dover District Council are committed to delivering an excellent customer focused, housing management service. To help us achieve this, we are looking to recruit a dynamic, skilled and high performing individual who shares our commitment to delivering excellence across the housing sector. You can help make the difference.  

You will be expected to directly manage 5 Estate officers, responsible for the delivery of Dover District Council’s housing management Estates services. Ensuring that at all times high quality, customer focused services are delivered to our tenants, contractors and colleagues.  You will also be expected to oversee a designated patch of properties. 

You will be expected to coach, develop and appraise staff within your team and ensure they are equipped to deliver an excellent and efficient service that is continuously improving and highly responsive to internal and external customers’ needs. 

Following changes to enhance and improve our delivery of Housing Management in the district we are expanding our Housing Management team. 

Who We Are Looking For 

  • Experience of line management of staff within a Housing Service or other Housing front line operation.  
  • Good understanding of social housing, tenancy and income recovery law  
  • Proficient in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Outlook, the use of the internet and internet based systems 
  • Excellent leadership qualities including the ability to motivate and coach staff 
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload by effective time management 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to persuade and influence others 
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage own workload 
  • Excellent IT skills including word, and excel 
  • Good negotiation skills 
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines 
  • An ability to communicate clearly and effectively both in written and verbal form adapting style and approach to meet the needs of the target audience.  
  • Educated to GCSE level grade A-C or level 4-9 or equivalent qualification. Degrees would be welcomed too. 
  • Demonstratable housing management and estate services experience. 
  • Housing Qualification from the Chartered Institute of Housing, Level 3 (Desirable)

    Due to the nature of this role the successful applicant will be required to undertake a Standard DBS check as part of their pre-employment clearances.
