Salary: Grade 17 £66,378-£68,784
Permanent – 36 hours per week

 

Job Purpose

To serve as an active member of the Senior Management Team at Croydon Council, with responsibility for overseeing the delivery of both statutory and non-statutory services for children and young people with SEND and their families. This includes

managing processes related to the application, issuing, and ongoing administration of Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans, ensuring that all services are delivered efficiently, lawfully, and in the best interests of the children and young people supported. To Manage the SEND statutory teams to provide high quality services that meet statutory requirements, e.g. OFSTED, DfE, CQC, alongside corporate and departmental service strategies, specifications and standards. To provide leadership and management to achieve high performance and effective operational delivery, which will include managing the effective use of resources and staff. Work closely with the Head of Service for SEND to support effective working relationships with relevant portfolio holders. Support and develop partnership working, including acting as an effective ambassador and advocate with external organisations.

 

About You

Educated up to degree level. Appropriate professional qualification (SEND/education/social care/health).
Management qualification or commitment to undertake management training. 
Evidence of significant relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD), for example, in management and/or SEND.
Substantial knowledge and understanding of the wide range of Special Educational Needs and disabilities.
A good understanding of budgetary processes and the effective use of resources.
The ability to provide expert advice and guidance to managers to enable them to effectively exercise their professional judgement and make their own decisions.
Track record of achievement at a management level in a similarly large and complex organisation including: Delivering customer focused services and service improvements, managing demands and pressures on the service and tight deadlines.
Significant experience of working with SEND in a setting, a school or a Local Authority.
Experience of working with other partners and agencies, e.g. health, voluntary sector, Youth Offending Service, social care, etc.
Experience of managing teams that deliver services to schools, in a complex multi-agency environment.
