Local Area Coordinator – New Addington and Fieldway
Salary: Grade 8 - £40,182 - £42,060 p.a.
Fixed term 18 month – 24 months - 36 hours per week
Location: Community-based / Old Coulsdon
We are recruiting two Local Area Coordinators who will be based in the New Addington and Fieldway community.

About the role
As a Local Area Coordinator working in New Addington and Fieldway, you’ll be rooted in the area working with local people, families and the community. You will become a familiar presence and a trusted point of contact for local people.
You will use a person centred and strengths-based approach to help people improve their health and wellbeing, build resilience, strengthen natural networks and navigate complex systems. You’ll also play a vital role in helping communities grow stronger, more inclusive and more connected.
This is a rewarding, highly relational role where every day will be different.
Driving is not a requirement; but you will be based out in the community for 80you’re your working week at various locations. You must be able to travel to the area and around the area to be considered for this role.
Being a Local Area Coordination requires you to be community bases and this may include significant periods of walking, standing and travelling around the local area.
Candidates with a UK driving licence and have a car are preferred.
There will be occasional work outside of normal office hours, during evenings and weekends.

About you
We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with people and has:
Excellent local knowledge of Croydon (ideally Old Coulsdon specifically) and its diverse communities.
- Proven experience supporting marginalised individual people and families from diverse backgrounds in a similar role.
Strong listening and communication skills, with a genuine commitment to working with people.
- Knowledge and skills in strengths-based, person-centred, and holistic approaches, with the ability to help people shape and pursue their own goals.
- Excellent relationship-building skills.
- Creative and independent problem-solving ability.
- Ability to risk assess and act autonomously whilst complying with procedures and practices.
- Good knowledge of the health and social care system, and other statutory and/or voluntary services.
- A solid understanding and experience of safeguarding practice and processes.
- Cultural and inclusive competence.

For the role of Local Area Coordinator, there will be a two-part interview process:
Stage 1: A community-based task where you will meet with local people and be assessed on your ability to engage with them. This will take place in the afternoon of 9th July 2026 in New Addington, and you will need to available for that date if you are shortlisted for interviews.
Stage 2: Candidates who are successful at stage one will be invited to attend a formal interview. Interview will take place week commencing 15th July 2026, this will be held in the Council offices in central Croydon.
