Job Purpose

Croydon is looking for a dedicated NEET caseworker to make a real difference to the lives of young people aged 16 – 18 years old (and up to age 24 if they have an EHCP) who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) or who may be at risk of becoming NEET. The purpose of this role is to support young people and help them to sustain participation. The successful candidate will work with schools, colleges and other education / training organisations, health, youth and community services across the borough to offer targeted support to young people and enable them back into EET.

If you’re passionate about improving outcomes for young people, have experience delivering high-quality project or casework, and want to contribute to better prospects for Croydon’s children and young people, we’d love to hear from you.

We are seeking a motivated and skilled practitioner with proven experience supporting young people who are NEET or at risk.  In this role, you will:

  • Manage a varied caseload, empowering young people to progress into education, employment or training.
  • Work collaboratively with parents / carers, schools, colleges, training providers, employers’ and wider professionals.
  • Plan and deliver in-person engagement sessions across the borough (occasional evening work may be required).
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping, contribute to project evaluation and write reports to support performance and service targets.

About You

  • Understanding young people‘s priorities and challenges.
  • Ability to build strong, supportive relationships.
  • Ability to provide effective engagement and progression opportunities.
  • Organised, proactive and committed to positive outcomes.
  • Flexibility in supporting young people within the community.
