About the Role John Wood School & Nursery is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Class Teacher to join our supportive and dedicated team from September.
This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about delivering high-quality teaching and ensuring all pupils achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to a positive and ambitious learning environment, working collaboratively with colleagues to drive standards and outcomes across the school.
This role is suitable for a strong classroom practitioner; applications from Early Career Teachers are welcome.
John Wood School & Nursery is a vibrant two-form entry primary school located in Croydon and part of Chancery Education Trust. Since academisation in 2016, the school has undergone significant development and was graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted in July 2024, with inspectors recognising high expectations, positive relationships and pupils’ aspirations for their futures. Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality teaching across the primary curriculum
• Plan engaging and inclusive lessons that meet the needs of all learners
• Assess, monitor and track pupil progress to ensure strong outcomes
• Maintain high expectations of behaviour, achievement and presentation
• Contribute to raising standards through effective teaching and use of assessment
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support teaching and learning across KS1/KS2
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and the wider school community
• Contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school Key Requirements
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) • Experience teaching within KS1 or KS2 (or relevant training for ECTs)
• Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and effective teaching strategies
• Ability to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment
• Proven or developing ability to deliver consistently strong teaching and secure good pupil outcomes
• High expectations for pupil achievement and behaviour
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Commitment to continuous professional development
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
