Are you a health and safety professional looking for a role where you can make a real impact?

We're looking for a proactive and motivated Health and Safety Officer to help promote a positive safety culture across the Council. Working with services across the organisation, you'll provide practical advice, carry out audits and inspections, investigate incidents, and help ensure we meet our legal and regulatory responsibilities.

About the Role

As Health and Safety Officer, you will:

Provide professional health and safety advice and guidance to managers and employees.
Carry out audits, inspections and compliance reviews across Council services.
Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying lessons learned and improvements.
Support risk assessment processes and the management of health and safety risks.
Monitor health and safety performance and prepare reports for managers and governance forums.
Deliver training, awareness campaigns and safety improvement initiatives.
Support property compliance, contractor management and other high-risk activities.
Promote a positive health and safety culture across the organisation.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

Organised, practical and solutions-focused.
Confident advising and influencing people at all levels.
A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
Able to work independently and manage competing priorities.
Passionate about creating safe and healthy working environments.

You Will Ideally Have

NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
IOSH membership or be working towards it.
Experience of providing health and safety advice in the workplace.
Experience of audits, inspections, compliance monitoring or investigations.
Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
Strong report writing and analytical skills.
