The Governance team provides key services to the Council and councillors, helping to ensure that decision-making processes are lawful and that the Council complies with its legal responsibilities.
Duties of the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated person with a strong customer focus and excellent inter-personal and organisational skills. They will have substantial experience of successfully undertaking commercial property work. The day-to-day workload will include providing legal advice on a range of both commercial property and landlord and tenant matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for a varied and intellectually challenging caseload. A knowledge or experience of any of the following: contractual, procurement, local government law, planning, licensing, contentious and non-contentious matters would also be advantageous.
Qualifications and skills required
You will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive (CILEX) etc., with significant experience in commercial property law.
Ideally the applicant will have 3 - 5 years post admission experience and will have worked in local government, but we also welcome applications from those who come from the private sector and work with the local government sector.
