The Council are seeking a Casual Museum Assistant who can welcome our diverse audiences, ensuring the safety of our visitors, and preserving our unique heritage collections in Ipswich.

Duties of the role

As an essential member of the Visitor Services Team, you will play a vital role in welcoming visitors, supporting a positive visitor experience, helping to keep visitors safe, and caring for the museum’s unique heritage collections. You will be expected to patrol galleries and invigilate exhibition spaces, operate the till system, cash handling, and digital transactions. Casual Museum Assistants also support the wider team with setting up and dismantling of events, private functions, weddings, and receptions.

Qualifications and skills required

To be successful in this role, you will have dynamic customer care and communication skills. Numerical competency to operate digital tills, process ticket and gift shop transactions. The ability to collaborate smoothly with the team and be willing to go the extra mile to support the day-to-day operations of the museums. We hope you will have a genuine enthusiasm for local history, arts and culture. A valid First Aid certificate is highly attractive for front-of-house safety.
