Colchester City Council is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Greening Officer to support the delivery of high-quality green spaces across the city. This is a varied, hands-on role combining project work, community engagement, allotment and contract management to create quality green spaces across the city.
Duties of the role
As an essential member of the Parks & Open Spaces team, you will Support the Parks & Open Spaces Improvement Officer and lead on agreed projects.
Inspect parks and open spaces to ensure safety, quality and compliance. Work closely with community groups, allotment holders and volunteers, supporting conservation and maintenance activities. Identify opportunities to develop and improve the Greening service. Build effective working relationships with residents, contractors, councillors and partner organisations.
Qualifications and skills required
To be successful in this role, you will have strong communication and organisational skills, be comfortable working outdoors and able to work flexibly, including early mornings, evenings and weekends when required. Good IT skills (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) are required and experience in parks, open spaces, countryside or environmental services is desirable.
