A unique opportunity exists for an Environmental Health Technical Officer seeking a new challenge. Colchester is a diverse City; it has an ever modernising community and a rapidly expanding urban centre surrounded by delightful open countryside, picturesque villages and coastline. We also have a large Garrison community, a thriving University with a large student population and one of the best Zoos’ in Europe.

We are looking for an Environmental Health Technical Officer who has a desire for personal growth, continual challenge and who will embrace a holistic approach to improving outcomes for the residents, visitors and businesses of Colchester.

Duties of the role

The Council recognises the key role Environmental Health has in protecting, sustaining and improving people’s quality of life.  As an essential member of the Environmental Protection Team, you will provide technical support Team, including air quality and water sampling, contaminated land enquiries and the installation, servicing & repair of noise equipment. You will also be expected to offer support to the Food & Safety Team providing advice and dealing with all issues relating to food sampling and poisoning, shellfish, tattoo and animal licensing.

Qualifications/skills needed for the role

You will need to be motivated, flexible and committed to personal development and be able to manage a large and varied work load.
