Are you looking to start your career in local government and develop valuable skills in governance, democratic services, and organisational processes? We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Governance Apprentice to join our Corporate Services team. This is your chance to make a real impact while gaining a nationally recognised qualification!

About the Opportunity

We’re excited to welcome a Governance Apprentice to our Governance Team. As Colchester prepares for Local Government Reorganisation, we’re ensuring that our governance framework supports the changes ahead—and you’ll be right at the heart of it.

You’ll play a key role in supporting our governance processes, including:

  • Risk Management
  • Internal Audit
  • Anti-Fraud & Corruption
  • Democratic Services

You’ll also get involved in a variety of other roles within the Governance team including civic events, elections and insurance.

What You’ll Gain

In partnership with Clear Quality, you’ll work towards a Governance Officer Level 4 qualification developing skills in Governance and compliance knowledge, risk management and assessment, and ethical decision making.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

- GCSEs - Minimum of Grade 5 (or equivalent) English and Maths

  • Strong communicationand organisational skills
  • A professional, confidential approach to your work
  • A genuine interest in governance processes
