About us

The City of London Corporation’s Housing Division is committed to putting residents at the heart of the services we deliver. We want to make it easier for residents to have their voice heard, ensure their experiences shape our services, and turn feedback into meaningful improvements.

Our Resident Involvement Strategy sets out an ambitious approach to creating more inclusive and accessible opportunities for residents to influence housing services and decision-making.

About the role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Resident Involvement Officer to help us deliver this ambition.

Working closely with colleagues across Housing, you’ll develop and deliver engaging opportunities for residents to have their say, from community meetings and events to online engagement and consultation exercises. You’ll build positive relationships with residents and community groups, ensuring that a diverse range of voices – including those who may be harder to reach – are heard.

You’ll also act as an adviser and facilitator to colleagues, helping embed a strong culture of resident involvement across the Housing Division.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver a range of face-to-face and online resident engagement activities, consultations, meetings and events.
  • Recruit and support a diverse and representative group of engaged residents.
  • Build effective relationships with residents, community groups, elected Members and partner organisations.
  • Support resident panels, project groups and Residents’ Associations.
  • Facilitate online engagement platforms and forums.
  • Work with colleagues to ensure resident feedback informs service design, improvement and performance.
  • Provide advice, guidance and support to colleagues on effective resident involvement.
  • Capture and communicate the outcomes and impact of engagement activity.

The ideal candidate will be

  • Experienced in customer, community or resident engagement, ideally within a housing or public service environment.
  • A confident communicator and facilitator who can build trust with a wide range of people.
  • Skilled at working with vulnerable, under-represented or harder-to-reach communities.
  • Highly organised, proactive and able to manage multiple activities and priorities.
  • Comfortable dealing with challenging situations, resolving issues and negotiating positive outcomes.
  • Able to analyse information, make sound decisions and identify opportunities to improve customer experience.
  • Collaborative and adaptable, with the resilience to work effectively in a changing environment.
  • Knowledgeable about social housing regulation and the role of the Housing Ombudsman, with an understanding of the issues and barriers faced by social housing residents.

A relevant professional qualification, such as CIH, would be desirable, or you should be willing to work towards one.

What’s in it for you?

This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping how residents influence and improve housing services across the City of London Corporation. You’ll join a team committed to meaningful engagement, better services and stronger communities.

The role is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with hybrid working and an expectation to attend the workplace three days per week. The role also involves attending some resident meetings and events outside normal working hours, for which time off in lieu will be provided.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and as part of the selection process the successful applicant will be required to obtain a Standard Disclosure & Barring Service check.

The City of London Corporation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

The City of London Corporation is currently undergoing a programme to ensure that our pay and reward practices are competitive and equitable across the whole organisation, to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive in the work that we do.

Closing date: 23:59pm on 30 October 2026.

Provisional Interview date: w/c 16 November 2026.

Because our roles are so varied, we don’t have a ‘one size fits all’ policy for workplace attendance. How many days a week you’ll be required to attend your workplace will depend on the requirements of your role. It’s important that you understand the requirements before applying to ensure you are able to meet them. We are committed to considering requests to work flexibly and job share. Requests will be considered by the recruiting manager in line with our policies and business needs.

For more information on our categories for workplace attendance, please view our guide here.

We will be reviewing this policy and approach at regular intervals to ensure we’re meeting our attendance needs.
