City Bridge Foundation is London’s largest independent charitable funder, working to tackle inequality and strengthen communities across the capital. We are seeking an experienced Media and Communications Officer to help tell the story of our funding, partnerships and impact — and to protect and enhance our reputation.

The role

This is a senior communications role responsible for delivering proactive media and external communications, managing reputational risk, and supporting strategic engagement with key stakeholders.

Working closely with the Head of Communications and colleagues across the organisation, you will lead integrated communications campaigns, manage media relationships, and provide high‑quality advice on sensitive or high‑profile issues.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver integrated communications campaigns promoting the Foundation’s funding, partnerships and impact

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including local, regional and national media, securing positive coverage and thought leadership

  • Lead major external announcements, drafting briefings, Q&As and reactive media lines

  • Identify and manage reputational and communications risks, including crisis communications planning

  • Provide strategic advice on sensitive issues and high‑risk decisions

  • Oversee ethical case studies and storytelling activity

  • Support internal communications to keep colleagues and members informed and engaged

  • Act as brand guardian across publications and digital channels

  • Manage communications budgets and external suppliers where required

About you

You will be a confident, experienced communications professional with:

  • Experience in the charity, public or social impact sector

  • A strong understanding of the UK Voluntary, Community Social, Enterprise or philanthropy landscape

  • Proven media relations and reputation management experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and sound judgement

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment

This is an exciting opportunity to play a visible role in one of London’s most influential charitable foundations, contributing to work that makes a real difference across the city.

If this role is advertised as a secondment, secondments are subject to the agreement of your department releasing you, therefore, you need to discuss this with your line manager prior to applying. The purpose of this will be to discuss what, if any, impact your secondment might have on the service and service delivery should your application be successful, and how this might be addressed.

Because our roles are so varied, we don’t have a ‘one size fits all’ policy for workplace attendance. How many days a week you’ll be required to attend your workplace will depend on the requirements of your role. It’s important that you understand the requirements before applying to ensure you are able to meet them. We are committed to considering requests to work flexibly and job share. Requests will be considered by the recruiting manager in line with our policies and business needs.

For more information on our categories for workplace attendance, please view our guide here.

We will be reviewing this policy and approach at regular intervals to ensure we’re meeting our attendance needs.
