Every shift is a mission: protect history, ensure safety, and deliver excellence.
The role - Step into History at the City of London’s Guildhall
Are you a dynamic, proactive security professional with a track record of excellence in prestigious environments? The Guildhall, at the heart of the City of London Corporation, is seeking a Security Officer who thrives on challenge and takes pride in safeguarding one of London’s most iconic Grade I-listed landmarks. The role will be pivotal in maintaining its reputation for safety and service.
What You’ll Do
As a Security Officer at the Guildhall, you will play a crucial role in our round-the-clock security operation. Your key responsibility is to ensure the safety and security of all guests, staff members, and contractors within this prestigious and fast-moving environment. You will be instrumental in upholding the high standards for which the Guildhall is renowned.
Delivering exceptional customer service and promoting a strong sense of security awareness are central aspects of the role. You will actively support our frontline visitor services team, ensuring that everyone who enters the Guildhall receives a warm and professional welcome.
Your daily duties will include greeting guests and staff members, undertaking thorough bag searches, and carrying out regular security patrols throughout the Guildhall premises to maintain a secure environment.
You will be required to operate the CCTV system and work as part of our command-and-control room team, where you will respond promptly and effectively to any incidents or emergencies that may arise.
Additionally, you will serve as the first point of contact during medical emergencies, coordinating closely with emergency services and ensuring swift and appropriate action is taken when required.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an enthusiastic and professional individual who demonstrates a genuine passion for both security and customer service. You will bring energy and commitment to the role, ensuring that every interaction upholds the highest standards expected at the Guildhall.
Previous experience working in high-end premises is essential, alongside holding a current SIA licence. You will be dedicated to best practice in all aspects of security, consistently striving to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone within the Guildhall.
We value individuals who are well-presented and adaptable, able to adjust quickly to changing duties—even at short notice. Flexibility is crucial for responding effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
Your ability to work collaboratively as part of a team is just as important as your capacity to take initiative and excel independently. A clear understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion is required, ensuring fair and respectful treatment for all colleagues and visitors.
In challenging situations, you will remain quick-thinking and resilient under pressure.
Why Join Us?
This is a unique opportunity to work at one of London’s most iconic venues, supporting a diverse range of events and contributing to the safety and reputation of the Guildhall. You’ll be part of a dedicated team, with opportunities for professional development and the chance to make a real impact.
