Apprentice - Finance

Location: Council Offices, Benfleet

Job Title: Finance Apprentice

Full Time – 37 hours per week
Salary - National Minimum Wage (age dependent)

Course: AAT Level 2 (In person course, either Southend or Chelmsford)

Course Start Date: September/October 2026

Contract Duration: Fixed term for 12 months

(Dependent on experience / qualifications, level 3 may be considered)

Castle Point Borough Council is looking for a Finance Apprentice to join our busy Finance team within the Corporate and Customer Directorate.

We are seeking someone who can:

  • Assist with financial reconciliations and reporting
  • Process transactions, refunds, and system interfaces
  • Support budget preparation and year-end accounts
  • Help maintain the contracts register and insurance records
  • Learn VAT and CIS processes as part of their apprenticeship training
  • Provide administrative support across the Finance service

Key Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop professionally
  • Basic IT skills including Microsoft Excel and Word

Experience:

No experience is required, but we will be looking for someone with a genuine interest in finance.

Qualifications:

Applicants must be willing to undertake a relevant finance or accounting qualification as part of the apprenticeship.

Interviews will be held week commencing 14, 17, 18 August 2026 at the Council offices in Kiln Road.
