Corporate Case Services Officer (Information Governance) Part-time 30 hours a week 

An exciting opportunity to join Canterbury City Council's Corporate Case Services team as a Corporate Case Services Officer (Information Governance) part-time, 18-month fixed-term contract to cover an internal secondment. 

Are you highly organised, detail-focused and passionate about information governance, data protection and transparency? We are looking for a Corporate Case Services Officer to help ensure the council meets its statutory responsibilities under Freedom of Information, Environmental Information and Data Protection legislation. 

This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll work across the organisation, supporting colleagues to manage information effectively while helping residents, customers and stakeholders access information lawfully and appropriately.

About this Information Governance role 

As a Corporate Case Services Officer (Information Governance), you will play a key role in helping the council meet its legal obligations relating to information rights, records management and corporate complaints handling. You'll work closely with services across the organisation, ensuring requests and enquiries are managed efficiently, accurately and within statutory deadlines. 

Here's what you'll get up to: 

  • Managing Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulation and Subject Access Requests from receipt through to response. 
  • Monitoring case progress, coordinating information gathering and ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines. 
  • Reviewing information for disclosure and applying appropriate redactions using specialist software. 
  • Supporting Ombudsman investigations through the preparation, organisation and redaction of documentation. 
  • Maintaining service databases and performance information to ensure accurate reporting and case management. 
  • Liaising with colleagues across the council to research, collate and analyse information in response to customer enquiries and information requests.  

Working pattern 

  • 30 hours a week across Monday to Friday, fixed term contract for 18 months. 
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements. 
  • You will be expected to attend council offices and meeting venues in line with business needs. 

About you 

We're looking for someone who has knowledge and experience with information governance work, can manage a varied caseload, work accurately under pressure and build effective working relationships across a wide range of services. 

Your knowledge 

  • Detailed knowledge of Information Governance legislation, including UK GDPR, Freedom of Information legislation and Environmental Information Regulations. 
  • Understanding of exemptions and their practical application. 
  • Knowledge of local authority processes and practices.  

Your experience 

  • Experience of managing multiple concurrent cases and deadlines. 
  • Experience of collecting, analysing and compiling information from a variety of stakeholders and services.  

Your skills 

  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills. 
  • Ability to work accurately and effectively in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Self-motivated with a strong focus on meeting statutory deadlines and achieving high standards.
