About the role
We know that cared experienced children and care leavers often face unique challenges around emotional health and well-being. To strengthen the support we provide, Bury Council has invested in a new and innovative approach, creating an emotional health and wellbeing (EHW) team. This is an exciting time to join our team as you will contribute to refining and developing our clinical offer to support the mental health and emotional wellbeing of our young people and the adults who care for them.
This team is psychologist led and comprises mental health practitioners and therapeutic social workers. The EHW team supports our cared for children team, fostering service and care leaver service, ensuring that emotional health is at the heart of care planning. This service forms part of our commitment to delivering trauma-informed, relationship-based practice that helps young people build resilience and thrive.
As a social worker within the EHW team you will have access to expert guidance, reflective practice, and specialist training to enhance your skills and confidence in supporting children and young people. This will support you to deliver consultations for our young people and the network of adults around them, interventions to young people regarding their emotional health and wellbeing, supporting and upskilling the adults who care for our young people, and delivering training and supervision to our colleagues to ensure that we deliver timely, coordinated support tailored to the needs of our care experienced population.
We are looking for colleagues that are passionate about improving outcomes for cared for children and young people. You will have a minimum of two years post qualification experience and knowledge/experience in applying trauma informed practice to your work.
