Outreach Assistant
Bury Council
Team
About the role
Bury’s SEND and Inclusion Service is currently embarking on a transformative journey to strengthen support for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Building on our system of an integrated, graduated approach to early assessment, identification, and intervention through the Communities of Practice (CoP) model, we are currently developing our Experts at Hand model thus enhancing the support available to schools as a key part of the SEND Reform Plan. Our innovative approach will continue to build on the strong partnerships to promote collaboration, shared learning, and capacity building across Bury’s school clusters.
As part of the Communities of Practice, the Outreach Team will continue to support schools and settings to enable Children and Young People with SEND to achieve their full educational potential. The current team consists of a range of professionals with the skills and expertise to meet the needs of children, young people and families.
We are now in a position to appoint an Outreach Assistant on a permanent full-time basis. We are looking for candidates to reflect our diverse communities and who align with the values, culture and expectations of Bury. The role will predominantly involve working across schools and offers hybrid working arrangements.
We recognise the importance of staff care and support. All team members attend regular formal supervision as well as opportunities to share practice and discuss cases via team and caseload meetings. Ongoing training and development opportunities are provided to develop a creative, dynamic and responsive team that meets a wide range of presenting needs. Team members are expected to work flexibly and to exercise their own professional judgement in complex situations.
Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week.
