Duty and Assessment Team Manager Full Time (37 Hours per Week)

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Duty and Assessment Team Manager to lead a fast-paced frontline social work service. This is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the effective management of referrals, initial child and family assessments, and decision-making processes to ensure timely, high-quality outcomes for children and families.

You will provide strong leadership to a dedicated team of social workers, embedding a strength-based approach to practice and promoting the use of motivational interviewing to support meaningful engagement with children, young people, and families. You will play a key role in driving forward the Family First Partnership (FFP) model, ensuring interventions are collaborative, relationship-based, and focused on building resilience and sustainable change.

The role requires confident decision-making, effective risk management, and the ability to work collaboratively with partners to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. You will oversee workload allocation, performance management, and ensure statutory responsibilities are met in line with organisational policies and best practice standards.

As Team Manager, you will also champion reflective supervision, support staff development and wellbeing, and foster a culture of continuous learning within a demanding yet rewarding duty environment.

What We Are Looking For

  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
  • Significant frontline experience in Duty and Assessment
  • Strong leadership and management capability with evidence of improving practice
  • Knowledge and Experience of strength-based practice, motivational interviewing, and FFP
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and risk management skills
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, child-centred outcomes
