Join Bury Council’s Children & Young People Department and play a central role in supporting senior leaders and driving improvementwhile also leading a small PA team to deliver an outstanding support service.

Make a difference
We’re looking for an experienced, proactive and highly organised Senior Executive PA to provide high level, confidential support to the Executive Director and Directors within the Children & Young People Department. You’ll be a trusted professional partner - anticipating priorities, planning ahead and using sound judgement to manage competing demands - so that senior leaders can focus on delivering the best possible outcomes for children, young people and families. You will also be responsible for the day to day line management of a small PA team, ensuring a consistent, high quality executive support service across the Directorate. You will also provide programme and project support across Children’s Services - co-ordinating work, producing clear briefings and reports that support our decision making, assurance processes and inspection readiness and external scrutiny.

About You

Significant experience providing senior (Director) level executive support, confidently working at pace with multiple priorities.
Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to plan, meet deadlines and stay calm under pressure.
Strong communication skills, with the confidence to work with senior officers, Elected Members and external stakeholders.
High levels of discretion and integrity, with a clear understanding of confidentiality, information governance and GDPR.
Strong digital skills (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and confidence learning new systems and processes.
Experience of mentoring or line managing staff, with a supportive, inclusive leadership style that develops others and builds team resilience.
A proactive, solution focused approachable to use initiative, make sound decisions and improve how things are done.

Working arrangements
Bury operates an agile working environment with a blend of home and office working. Due to the nature of executive support, you will need to work flexibly in line with business needs, including occasional work outside normal office hours to meet deadlines and support key meetings. As a general rule of thumb, in a typical week we would expect the Senior Exec PA to be in the office 3 d
ays.
